Electric Shock
First Aid Actions:The first action performed by anyone who is close by or working with someone who has been subjected to an electric shock can literally dictate whether that person lives or dies. Which is why we all need to have a basic idea of what to do if we are there. The first aid action should be quick, decisive but the most important thing is to try and be cool and calm. Hackney Plumbers can deal with any emergency situation. If you are witness to an incident, then, for your own safety you must not:1). Touch the victim or make any contact (skin) as you could receive a shock.2). Try and isolate the power as soon as possible and try and separate the victim from the source of the electricity. You be insulated so, use something like a broom handle or even possibly drag them away with their clothes.3). Check for breathing and if there is none, then you need to start resuscitation as soon as possible. Resuscitation: It is highly likely that breathing has stopped so pinch the nose and with the head tilted back place the mouth over the victims and blow into the mouth, watching the chest rise and fall for 10 or 12 times. The emergency services need to be called also ASAP. Loud verbal shouting should be started to attract attention if a phone cant be reached. Continue until the victim starts to breathe unaided or the paramedics arrive on the scene. A Hackney Plumber is trained in first aid procedures.Recovery Position:If the victim begins to breathe on their own, then, lay them on their side (not on their back), with their head sideways and arm extended and the head just touching it, make sure that their breathing is unhindered. Try and ensure that the victim is kept warm and reassured. Don’t let them sit up until the emergency response team arrives. Watch the victim for any adverse signs like vomiting and if they are sick make sure that they are not able to choke. “
